Asbestos Training

Training is a fundamental aspect of the duty to manage asbestos.  It helps ensure that individuals have the knowledge to protect themselves and others against the potential of exposure.  MCL has extensive experience in providing various levels of asbestos training.  Training can also be tailored to the specifics of your business and we can provide bespoke training courses.  Sessions can be held at your premises or hosted by MCL.  Rates are charged per session, rather than per delegate, in order to make our training more cost effective.

  • Asbestos Awareness Training

This training is required to be provided to any person whose work could result in them potentially being exposed to asbestos.  It provides delegates with knowledge about the hazards of asbestos, how to identify risk and the measures to avoid disturbing asbestos.  It does not prepare people to work with asbestos.  Training takes place over half a day and delegates will receive certification.

MCL can provide this training in groups of up to 20 delegates.

  • Asbestos Non-Licensed Training

This course provides delegates with the knowledge and practical skills to undertake non-licensed work with asbestos containing materials (ACMs) as described in the Health and Safety Guidance Document HSG 210 Asbestos Essentials and Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR 2012).  This is the minimum level of training required for individuals who are knowingly planning to work on asbestos containing products which are low risk (such as corrugated cement sheets, CAF gaskets in pipe flanges, decorative textured coating and floor tiles).  Training is conducted over 1 day with an assessment at the end.  Certification is provided for successful delegates.

MCL can provide this training in groups of up to 6 delegates.

Most asbestos non-licensed work will require the employer to provide an appropriate facemask to protect against exposure. The mask provided must be fit tested to the individual.  MCL can provide each delegate Respirator Fit Testing at the same time as non-licensed training if required.

  • Duty to Manage Training

This course provides delegates with the theoretical and practical skills to undertake the management of asbestos containing materials (ACMs), within the buildings that they are responsible for, as defined in the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR 2012). It provides the delegate with an understanding of the legislative requirements, their responsibilities in the management of asbestos and supervision of contractors on site.  The training is conducted over 2 days with an assessment at the end.  Certification is provided for successful delegates.

MCL can provide this training in groups of up to 6 delegates.
