  • Management Surveys and Risk Assessment

The purpose of a Management Survey is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs).  This involves the sampling of suspect materials for analysis. The condition of the material is assessed and a risk assessment calculated. A register can be produced giving a summary of location and type of asbestos, as well as risk assessment scores.

This survey gives information about materials which may be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy.  Any individual or organisation which has the responsilbilty for the maintenance and upkeep of a building should arrange this.

MCL can perform this survey and produce a detailed report and asbestos register for the building.

  • Refurbishment and Demolition Survey

This survey should be conducted before any refurbishment or demolition work is carried out.  It’s purpose is to locate all Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) within the area of refurbishment or in the whole building (as in the case of demolition) in order that they can be removed or avoided.  It is a fully intrusive survey and involves destructive inspection to gain access to all areas including those which are difficult to reach.

MCL can perform this survey and produce a detailed report.

  • Re-inspection Surveys

All Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) should be inspected regularly to assess the condition, check for deterioration, recalculate risk assessments and make any changes to management if required.  HSE regulations state that this should be performed at least annually and more frequently in some situations.

MCL can perform this survey and produce a detailed report and recommendations.  We can provide a reminder service to inform you when re-inspections are due.
